  1. Sale of Illegal or Regulated Goods and Services

Content selling certain illegal or regulated goods and services is not allowed on YouTube. You shouldn’t post content on YouTube if it facilitates the sale of (or links to sites that sell) items such as:

    • Bank account passwords, stolen credit cards, or other financial information
    • Counterfeit documents or currency
    • Drugs
    • Pharmaceuticals without a prescription
    • For more check out our full guidelines here.
  2. Child Safety

Content that endangers the emotional and physical well-being of minors is not allowed on YouTube. We do not allow content that includes, but isn’t limited to, any of the following:

    • Sexualization of minors
    • Harmful or dangerous acts involving minors
    • Infliction of emotional distress on minors
    • Misleading family content
    • Cyberbullying and harassment involving minors

Learn more about each of these and more here.

  3. Violent Criminal Organizations

Content that praises, promotes, or aids violent criminal organizations is not allowed on YouTube. Violent criminal organizations are not allowed to use YouTube for any purpose, including recruitment. Check out our full guidelines here.

  4. Spam

Spam, scams, and other deceptive practices that mislead the YouTube community aren’t allowed on YouTube. We also don’t allow content where the main purpose is to trick people into leaving YouTube for another site or to boost your own engagement metrics (like gaining subscribers or watchtime). Check out our full guidelines here.

  5. Violence

Violent or graphic content intended to shock or disgust viewers, or content encouraging others to commit violent acts is not allowed on YouTube. Check out our full guidelines here.

If enough context is provided along with violent content, we may apply an age-restriction rather than remove the video completely.

  6. Sex and Nudity

Content like pornography that’s meant to be sexually gratifying is not allowed on YouTube. We allow nudity when the primary purpose is educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic, and it isn’t gratuitous, but we may age-restrict this content in order to protect young audiences. Context of the video and its details (tags, titles, description, etc) is important because it helps viewers find your video and understand its purpose. Check out our full guidelines here.

  7. Hate

YouTube doesn’t allow content that promotes violence or hatred against individuals or groups based on a number of attributes, including, but not limited to: age, race, gender, or religion. Click here to see the full list of protected groups and all of the guidelines on hate. Remember, context in the video is key for policy decisions!

  8. Harassment

YouTube wants to foster a safe community for users. Behavior that is meant to harass, bully, or threaten is not allowed. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t share opinions or be humorous. Harassment can be flagged in the form of videos, comments or metadata. Remember to always consider the context. Click here to see all of the guidelines around harassment in the Help Center and learn what to do if you’re being harassed too!

  9. Harmful and Dangerous

YouTube wants to keep its community safe from physical and emotional harm. Content that encourages dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or death is not allowed on YouTube. This includes challenges that pose imminent risk of physical injury and pranks that lead victims to fear serious physical danger, or that create severe emotional distress in minors. Check out our full guidelines here.
