Recently, we made videos about how to use Premieres, Community posts and Stories. But how can you use them together to build an even stronger community on your channel?
In this video, we’ll give you some ideas for how you can incorporate all these features in your usual channel workflow, to really electrify your fanbase. If you haven’t already, go back and check out the other videos in this series that give you an overview of each.
Before your video goes public: Giving updates and building hype
Ahead of uploading your newest video, here are some ideas on ways to use these features.
With Community posts
You can keep your channel active in between uploads with something super simple -- like a Community post giving an update on the production of an upcoming series. Maybe a photo, quick vlog, or just a text update. And while editing your video, be on the lookout for fun little moments or bloopers. You can turn them into GIFs and use them as mini-trailers.
With Stories
Make quick Stories that build hype around your upcoming videos and add value for loyal viewers. This will help give something to your fans who are eagerly waiting for your next upload. It can even potentially help you gain new subscribers since Stories show to non-subscribers . You can make Stories with behind-the-scenes footage, easter eggs, or fun facts about the making of the video.
With Premieres
Always announce that you’ll be Premiering your upcoming video before it goes live. Premieres were actually designed for building hype before your video goes public. So use social media in the days leading up to your Premiere to drive people there, and give your fans an understanding of what they can expect. You can also give them an incentive to tune in, like giving a shout out to the first 10 people in the chat. These small touches will reward on-time viewers and get others excited about participating next time! For best results, we recommend uploading your Premiere one to three hours before your video is released.
OK, let’s move on to --
Releasing your video: Interacting and explaining
Now that you’ve hyped up your audience ahead of release, it’s time to upload your video! Here are some ideas to take advantage of the moment.
With Premieres
Be present at the Premiere and engage in the live chat the whole time. Your fans will be excited to co-watch your video with you, so give them an experience packed with jokes, fun facts, and direct chat. Maybe even consider writing scripted chat responses beforehand that provide fun talking points linked to moments in your video. And if you're eligible, turn on Super Chat to earn money and give your superfans a chance to show their support.
With Community Posts or Stories
You can use Community posts or Stories to provide your viewers with the “why” behind your latest video; whether it’s based on a real life experience, or a topic close to your heart, this added context can give viewers extra motivation to check out your video once it’s live!
Alright, now what about after the video goes live? Let’s talk about --
The Post-show: Maintaining the connection
Once your video goes live, think about these ideas for keeping the conversation going with your viewers.
With Premieres
Live chat stays active for a few minutes once your Premiere ends. So use that time to direct viewers to your other videos. And ask them what they thought! What was their favorite moment? Encourage them to leave any lingering questions in the comments.
With Community posts
The Community tab is a great source of feedback from your most loyal and engaged viewers. Here you can also ask your audience what they thought about the video after launching it. To ask something specific, try using a poll or giving them direct prompts to respond to.
With Stories
Stories is a great feature for post-release conversations; get feedback, answer your viewers’ burning questions, or just hang out! You can reply-in-story to highlight a viewer’s comment to shoutout loyal viewers and spotlight key takeaways.
Alright! So as you can see, Premieres, Community posts and Stories can all be used together to keep your fans engaged and excited about your videos. Think about how some of these ideas can fit into your regular channel workflow, and share ideas in the comments below on how you’re thinking of using these features. Bye!
