Think about your audience
Have you considered who is tuning in to your channel? If you aim to create inclusive content, think about who you are reaching and if your content appeals to a broad audience.
If you are interested in appealing to a wider and more broadly-diverse audience, check out the tips below:
How do I think about audiences when constructing my content?
Who is the intended audience? Have I considered constructing my content to seek out and engage a broadly-diverse audience?
- Tip: Consider a cross-vertical collaboration (i.e. if you create learning content, consider working with a health and beauty vlogger). We’ll cover collabs in Lesson 4!
If my content includes subject matter that is culturally biased against certain groups, am I providing context that can welcome diverse audiences?
- Tip: Directly address and debunk stereotypes associated with the topic (i.e. it is a myth that boys are inherently better at math than girls.)
Organizations should also consider: When conducting user research, does my institution ensure that diverse perspectives are sought and included?
- Tip: Also ensure that your organization is working with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
